If you are wondering why a review is coming at this time of the year, your answer is simple i haven't been blogging for a long time and decided to wake up from the lazy slumber. Now 2013 was a very exciting year we witnessed a lot of magic.... artist disappeared and some appeared. I think Bamenda really represented by giving us Magasco and The talented Gasha. one thing these two artist have in common is that they are both produced by Dj Pazzo of scratch records who has been cementing his place as one of the top producers in Cameroon. Gasha was just straight fire and she keeps coming harder everyday.. there is just something about her that reminds me of the likes of Asa and Luaryn Hill. Magasco after breaking his romance with Mumak records eventually moved on the sign with Pitt barcadi's Label. Sounds impressive right? well we still waiting to see what they actually bring to the table. Moving on to Buea, the town of celebrities, there was as usual more facebook and twitter and less talk.. In fact there were very few releases from major labels. A lot of the labels seem to be crumbling down. Ciana signed under NHNR released "Bangwa sense" which lifted a few eyebrows on the internet. She eventually moved on the be Mode Maison's poster girl. We also saw NHNR getting structured under the leadership of Prince Enobi Micheal and their eventual partnership with Mode Maison. Fluri boyz came back with fire with the release of their marabou video in partnership with Dj Vybz. Trackzone record has almost been extinct ever since the M.D tha rap Monsta left the country, other trackzone veterans like Da breeze, Pablo and Passi don't seem to be creating any waves either. Black Triangle was suppose to be one of the biggest acts in 2013 but unfortunately the label seems to have broken up with Arre and Ace going in their respective directions.
The multi talented CEO William Takor hasn't given the press any statements regarding that. Moving on to the capital if there is one person who has shown constant progress over time, it would be the Nyango Crooner and A music's own boss Adah Akenji. I dont know what he is these days but whether it be Record executive, sound production, Singing, Music writing and most recently, Video directing and Editing, He is very good at it. He has a couple of impressive videos under his belt including the Viral Afe Nkap and Marabou by fluri boys. Mapnada's very own Jovi keeps on thrilling his fans and being relevant. The difference between Jovi and a lot of entertainers is that there is quality in his art. He brought forward three singles including the viral B.A.S.T.A.R.D. I don't think it is possible to mention Jovi without mentioning the other Ndukong (Feb 16th). when he isn't publishing very hmmmish pictures of model Beyala, He is constantly coming up with new ways to improve the standards of visuals in Cameroon. Some people may say the video for Bastard wasnt eye popping but Bangando star was a definite Game over. Cameroons Man of the moment Stanley Enow has proven that branding and public relations can help u conquer the entertainment industry. You may criticize his lyrics, style, delivery and whatever rap heads are about these days but you cannot dispute the fact that dude is making major cheese from his hustle. There are a lot of people who did amazing work such as Penjo Baba with his Photography and Videography, Adrenaline Studios kept it coming with tons of videos, Askia also stormed in with a good video, Jay Jay of varsity must be recognized for his networking abilities and hands on in Social Media. Ngwane Hansel made us laugh and he equally loves controversy, Cynthia Tabe the force behind Mode Maison should be applauded for her enormous contribution, last but certainly not the least is Paola Audrey who is a huge asset to the bloggosphere .
The list is too long given the number of entertainers we now have but a thumbs up to everyone contributing to the growth of 237. It has been a good run and there are many aspects of Entertainment that i haven't touched in this article and people that i haven't mentioned. There are lots of things to be added to this article but what needs to be taken away from the Entertainment industry is the unnecessary pride. This is not a movie its real life and if you want to build your brand and rake in the profits of your work, you must do networking and of course when everyone is the chief of a non existent Village, no one will listen. Keep working hard and striving and remember ROME WASNT BUILT IN A DAY.....MASSA SEP BUEA THEM NO BUILD AM FOR ONE DAY NOR.......PEACE
